NiceCard FAQ

Frequently asked questions about NiceCard. If you run into issues while using the app, start by checking here.

1. Installation & Basics

Q1: What macOS version does NiceCard require?

NiceCard currently supports macOS 14.6 or later and works on both Apple Silicon and Intel-based Macs.

Q2: What do I need to set up on first launch?

On first launch, macOS will ask for clipboard access and Accessibility permission. Please grant these permissions in System Settings, otherwise NiceCard cannot monitor the clipboard or respond to global shortcuts.

Q3: How do I quickly generate a card?

Copy the content you want (text, image) to the clipboard, then use the menu bar icon or your custom shortcut to trigger generation. NiceCard will detect the clipboard content and show a matching retro-style card.

2. Features

Q4: What content types are supported?

NiceCard currently supports two types of content: text, images. Different content types use different layouts optimized for that data.

Q5: How can I change the card style?

In the card window, you can switch between multiple themes (such as Polaroid, Neon, Typewriter, etc.) in the style selector. You can preview the result in real time and then export the image.

Q6: Does NiceCard save my previous cards?

Yes. NiceCard automatically keeps a history of generated cards. You can review them, reopen a card, or export it again from the history window.

3. Shortcuts & Settings

Q7: How do I change the shortcut for generating cards?

Open the main window and go to the shortcut settings section. There you can customize the key combination. After changing it, make sure the shortcut is not already used by another app.

Q8: Can I hide the menu bar icon?

The current version relies on the menu bar icon to access some features, so we do not recommend hiding it completely. If you mainly use shortcuts, you can simply interact with the menu bar less often.

4. Privacy & Data

Q9: Does NiceCard upload my clipboard content?

No. All processing happens locally on your device. NiceCard does not upload or sync your clipboard content to any server.

5. Troubleshooting

Q10: Why is my shortcut not working?

Please check the following: (1) NiceCard is running; (2) Accessibility permission has been granted; (3) The shortcut is not already used by another app; (4) There is valid content in the clipboard. If it still does not work, try restarting NiceCard or your Mac.

Q11: Why doesn't a window appear when generating a card?

The window might be blocked by macOS or appear on another desktop space. Click the NiceCard icon in the Dock or menu bar to bring the app to the front, then try generating a card again.

6. Feedback & Contact

Q12: How can I contact the developer?

If you cannot find an answer in this FAQ, you can leave feedback on the App Store or use the contact information provided in the app to send an email. Please include your macOS version, NiceCard version, and simple reproduction steps so that issues can be located and fixed more quickly.
